Character Wheel Project

You will be creating a character wheel for one of the following characters:

Squeaky from "Raymond’s Run"

Jerry from "A Mother in Mannville"

Nace from "Top Man"

Osborn from "Top Man"

After you choose one of these characters, you will think of qualities that the character has. Also, think of details and examples from the story that show this character trait (quality). For example, if you say that Jerry is responsible, you would need to think of examples and quotes from the story that show how he is responsible.

The Character Wheel Will Have the Following:

You will divide the wheel into four sections (pie pieces) In the center of the pie will be a circle with the characters name in it.

In The First Pie Piece:

v Place a picture of the character—find a picture that represents your idea of him/her

v Place descriptive details about the character

v Place objects that represent something about the character and the story.

v Place any background information that would be important

v If you take anything word for word, use quotation marks

In the other two or three Pie Pieces:

v Place the Character Trait—write this larger or in bold

v Give 2-3 details/examples from the story that show that trait (write in a full sentence)

v Place one quote from the story that shows that trait

v If you are doing Jerry or Nace—you need to have three traits

v If you are doing Osborn and Squeaky—you need two main traits and then see below for what will be in the fourth pie piece

In the fourth pie piece (if you are doing Osborn or Squeaky)

v Title this piece "How the Character Changes"

v Describe how the character changes or matures

v Tell what lesson he/she learns

v Use specific details from the story to show this

v Use a quote from the story to show this

General Directions:

v Bold lines should separate the pie pieces

v In the center of the wheel should be a small circle with the character’s name

v All wording should be in marker or typed

v Decorate or color the pie pieces

v Be creative and neat in the presentation

v All information should be printed, written, or typed—use markers

v All quotes should be in quotation marks and the page number given in ( )
