Sample Intro and Topic Sentences

Here is a Sample Introduction for the Persuasive Letter on the Colonies:
My Dearest Sister Rebecca, I was so happy to hear from you. It has been too long since we have had news from England. Timothy and I are very happy in our new home in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Since we have arrived in the new world, we have had an addition to our family. Little Sarah joined us four months ago. She has made us both happy. We are glad we made the long journey here from England. It was not an easy journey, but what awaited us was worth it. At least in these colonies we can practice our religion the way we want without fear of persecution. It is also a wonderful environment to raise a family and offers many opportunities to make a living. Timothy has even had an opportunity to take part in the government and have a voice, unlike in England. We wish that you and your family would join us here. I miss you so much, and I know you wouldn't be sorry if you came. Here are some sample topic sentences for the body paragraphs: I know it is difficult for you in England since you are Puritans, but at least here you won't have to worry about that.
Now that we have Sarah, I can understand your concerns about raising a family. These colonies are a wonderful place to raise children.
Your husband John wouldn't have to worry about leaving his job in England because there are many opportunities for him here. If John is interested, he could join Timothy at the Town Meetings and feel like his opinion counts.
These are just examples. Please be creative and make up your own introduction. Imagine yourself as part of a family, a single man or woman, etc. Use what would be appropriate to the colony you chose. Create a "history" for that person and make it sound as if he/she is "real." Your topic sentences need to mention the reasons you have chosen. Each topic sentence would be one reason. Then the remainder of the paragraph would include persuasive details to support that reason.
