When students do vocabulary, they are to use the double column approach.  Fold the paper in half lengthwise.  In the first column, place the vocabulary word and underline it.  Then write the sentence from the text in which the word appears.  In the second column, write the correct definition.  Use the dictionary definition that best fits the context of the sentence.  Then tell what part of speech the word is.
