MOVIE POSTER
You have read a book that you think will make a great movie production, so
you have decided to pursue the project. It is your job to plan the production
as well as the advertising campaign. You are to do the following:
As You Read the Book:
Make a list of the characters in your book. Describe the general appearance
and personality of the character.
Think of what actors and actresses could play the roles of the major
characters.
Write down what the major settings in your novel, so you can decide on the
location for your movie.
Decide what the theme of the novel is, so you can be sure to use this in
your movie.
Decide on a rating for your movie, such as G, PG, PG-13, so you can
decide on the audience you want to reach.
Decide on a movie critique symbol such as: stars, thumbs up or down, etc.
The Poster Itself:
Title and Author: This should appear at the top of the poster in big,
bold letters.
Director and Production Company: (The director could be your name and
the production company could relate to the story or our school). Place this on
the poster where you feel it will be most appropriate.
Illustration: The illustration should serve as the background of your
poster. Place it wherever it will most effectively represent your movie. You
may draw, use computer graphics, or pictures from magazines. You could also
think of scanning pictures.
Casting of Characters: Decide which actors or actresses will play the
parts of the characters in your "movie". Write a brief
characterization of each of the important characters in the "movie"
with the name of the actor or actress playing the part.
Example: _________________ as General Zaroff, the insane, evil Russian
aristocrat who hunts "a prey that can reason" on his own island far
from civilization.
A Critique of the "Movie": Look at movie reviews in the
newspaper. The review needs to do the following:
Give your critical appraisal of the movie.
Give the reader an idea of the plot of the novel without giving away the
ending.
Identify the setting.
State the theme.
Try to write it in the "movie review style" using some kind of
attention-getting device at the beginning or for the title.
Your rating: Place your rating somewhere on the poster
Your critique symbol: Use stars 0-5 stars, use thumbs up or down,
or devise your own system.
Presentation:
Poster should be done on large poster board
Poster should be neat
Poster should be visually appealing
Poster should be done in markers or typed. Do not use
pencil or just plain pen.
The Critique and Cast of Characters can be typed on paper
and then glued on.
You can use pictures of the actors and actresses to play
the roles on the poster
